French Toast

Origin: Italy

Ingredients:

  1. Bread – 6 slices
  2. Eggs – 4 medium
  3. Milk – 50ml
  4. Butter – 20 grams
  5. Cinnamon Powder – 1/2 teaspoon
  6. Salt – 1/2 teaspoon
  7. Black Pepper – 1/4 teaspoon
  8. Honey – 1 tablespoon

Recipe:

  1. Crack the eggs into a bowl and whisk along with milk and cinnamon powder.
  2. Add salt and freshly ground black pepper to the mix.
  3. Toast the slices of bread to a light crisp texture.
  4. Dip the bread into the egg mix and generously coat both sides.
  5. Add butter to a frying pan and toast the coated bread till it turns golden brown.
  6. Remove from the heat and let the toasts rest for a minute.
  7. Sprinkle some ground paper and drip honey on top of the toasts.
  8. Serve warm with a side of choice.

Extras:

  1. Use oil instead of butter for a healthier option.
  2. Add flavours to the egg mix by adding light spices of choice.
  3. Add a dollop of butter on top while serving to give a glossier finish.
  4. Honey can be replaced by maple syrup, chocolate sauce or any fruit compote.
